The Moderator of the PCC, Rt. Rev. Fonki Samuel Forba inaugurates the PCC Adolescent and Youth Friendly Centre (FreeMind Centre)

The Moderator of the PCC, the Rt. Rev. Fonki Samuel Forba has today Thursday 05th November 2020, inaugurated the PCC Adolescent and Youth Friendly Centre (FreeMind Centre). This event took place at the premises of the centre at the 3rd floor of the Presbook Building Molyko – Buea at the UB junction.

The Freemind Centre under its Director Ms. Mbah Rita who doubles as PCC HIV Coordinator, is a safe space set up by the PCC HIV program where Youth Friendly Services (YFS) are being offered to all young people; a private space where they freely come and go without worrying about adult interactions.

This centre is an expansion of the project on Life Skills and Sexuality Education for HIV Prevention and Care of the PCC Health Services that began in PCC Secondary and High Schools with the objective to have youth show responsible behaviour based on their in-depth knowledge of sexuality, HIV and gender-based violence. The project is supported by Bread for the World, Germany and Mission 21 Basel.

The inauguration was attended by the officials of the Synod Office and the Fako North Presbytery, pastors, partner organisations like the Regional Delegation of Public Health, the UNO, various Youth Elders of congregations, choral groups and other invited guests.

In a bit to have community participation, a fundraising exercise was carried out to help foster the vision of the centre.

The public can get in contact with the Freemind centre via Tel.: +237699906159/+237650012684, Whatsapp +237650008412/+237650012684, Facebook: Freemind center and email: freemindcenter19@gmail.com.
