FUNERAL SERVICE OF MAMA AGBOR CATHERINE HELD IN BUEA
The Presbyterian Church in Cameroon (PCC) on Friday, 22nd August 2025, gathered in Buea to bid farewell to Mama Agbor Catherine, fondly called “Mami Mikado”, mother of the Synod Clerk of the PCC, Rev. Ayuk Solomon Eta.
The day began with the removal of the mortal remains from the Fako Funeral Home at midday, accompanied by the Synod Clerk’s family and a college of pastors led by Moderator Emeritus, the Very Rev. Fonki Samuel Forba. A brief service at the mortuary was conducted by Rev. Kang Denis Tem, Presbyterial Secretary for Fako North Presbytery, assisted by a number of pastors, before the cortege proceeded to the Synod Office Congregation.
At the Synod Office Congregation, the main funeral service was officiated by the Moderator of the PCC, the Rt. Rev. Miki Hans Abia, assisted by a host of ministers. Preaching from 2 Timothy 4:6–8 under the theme “A Triumphant Confession”, the Moderator described Mama Agbor as a “Great Woman”, a devoted Christian, full of kindness and compassion, who touched countless lives. In a moving personal testimony, he recalled knowing her for nearly 28 years and honoured her legacy of faith and service. He urged the Synod Clerk’s family to draw strength from God’s grace in this season of loss.
The service drew an overflowing crowd of mourners, including the PCC hierarchy, Moderator Emeritus Fonki Samuel Forba, Synod Clerk Emeritus Abwenzoh William Membong, hundreds of pastors, faithful Christians, and friends of the family.
Mama Agbor was born in 1942 and slept in the Lord on 13th July 2025. She is survived by 8 children, 31 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, along with family, friends, and the wider community who deeply mourn her passing.
Part Two of the funeral and burial rites will hold tomorrow in Mamfe, where a funeral service in her honour will be conducted before her interment.
We continue to lift up the Synod Clerk and his family in our prayers, thanking God for the gift of Mama Agbor’s life and legacy.
