Buea/Limbe, Cameroon – The official visit of the Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG), Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye, to the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon (PCC) has culminated in the signing of a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and a colourful reception service, further cementing the longstanding relationship between the two sister churches.
The visit, which took place from June 12–15, 2026, marked a significant milestone in the growing South-South partnership between the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon and the Presbyterian Church of Ghana. It provided an opportunity for both churches to deepen collaboration in mission, ministry, and institutional development.
Historic Memorandum of Understanding Signed
The highlight of the visit was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the PCC and PCG at the Synod Office Hall in Buea on Saturday, June 13, 2026.
The five-man Ghanaian delegation was warmly received by PCC leaders led by the Moderator, Rt. Rev. Miki Hans Abia. During the meeting, heads of departments and institutions of the PCC presented the Church’s diverse ministries and achievements, while the Ghanaian delegation shared insights into the mission and operations of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana.
Speaking during the signing ceremony, Rt. Rev. Miki Hans Abia underscored the shared Reformed heritage, common mission, and fraternal bond that unite the two churches. He noted that the partnership aligns with the PCC’s vision of strengthening and edifying the Body of Christ through meaningful collaboration.
The Memorandum of Understanding establishes a formal partnership founded on a common faith in Jesus Christ and a shared Presbyterian tradition. Key areas of commitment include:
- Pastoral Care: Providing worship spaces and spiritual support for members of either church residing in Ghana or Cameroon.
- Shared Ministry: Facilitating cultural, educational, and liturgical exchanges, hosting theological students, and exchanging volunteers and co-workers.
- Mutual Learning: Sharing publications, Bible study materials, liturgical resources, and leadership training opportunities for both ordained and lay leaders.
- Collaboration: Promoting interaction among men’s, women’s, youth, and children’s ministries in both churches.
- Joint Funding: Exploring shared funding opportunities through donations, foundations, and church budget allocations to support collaborative initiatives.
The visit sought to strengthen cooperation in evangelism, theological education, health services, youth and women’s ministries, and communication.

Colourful Reception Service at PC Beach Congregation
The visit concluded with a vibrant reception and thanksgiving service at PC Beach Congregation, the seat of the Fako South Presbytery in Limbe.
The service brought together clergy, church workers, and members from across the Presbytery and beyond to celebrate the fellowship between the two churches.
Preaching on the theme “No One is Beyond the Reach of Jesus”, based on Matthew 9:9–13, Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye highlighted God’s boundless grace and Christ’s mission to seek and save all people regardless of their background or circumstances.
He challenged Christians to emulate Christ’s example by reaching out to the marginalized, the forgotten, and those considered beyond redemption, emphasizing that God’s love extends to everyone.
In his remarks, PCC Moderator Rt. Rev. Miki Hans Abia expressed gratitude for the visit and voiced optimism about the future of the partnership between the PCC and PCG. He noted that the newly signed agreement would open new avenues for cooperation and mutual growth, enabling both churches to better serve God and humanity.
Accompanying the Ghanaian Moderator throughout the visit were the Synod Clerk of the PCC, Rev. Ayuk Solomon Eta; the Financial Secretary, Mr. Mbauyo Ndive Mosuka; the Secretary of the Committee of the Ministry, Rev. Masok Emmanuel, the National Communication Secretary, Rev. As the delegation returns to Ghana, both churches look forward to translating the commitments contained in the Memorandum of Understanding into practical initiatives that will strengthen ministry, promote mutual learning, and advance the mission of Christ in Cameroon, Ghana, and beyond.
The visit will be remembered as a significant step toward deepening Presbyterian unity in Africa and building a stronger partnership for the glory of God and the advancement of His Kingdom. PCG looks forward to receiving the PCC on its 200th anniversary by 2028 in Ghana.
