The Ecumenical Forum for Justice and Peace in Cameroon
, under the Chairmanship of the Rt. Rev. Dr. Fonki Samuel Forba has been lauded for its efforts thus far in the fight for peace and justice in Cameroon. The words of appreciation were echoed by some of its partners during an assessment meeting that took place at the PCC PresFlats on Monday, December 16th, 2024.According to the Rev. Dr. Lesmore Gibson Ezekiel Director of Programs at the All African Conference of Churches, in Nairobi Kenya, “The Forum has been up and doing and it is a credible platform for religious leaders – Christians and Muslims in particular, in Cameroon, to think through together, reflect together and plan together”.
The Rev. Dr. Hanns Lessing from the World Communion of Reformed Churches on his part says: “this forum goes a long way to show how strong the religious voice is in the fight for peace, hoping that these different actors brought together lays a foundation that allows collaboration and the formation of a common voice”.
About nine national religious organizations from both the Christian and Muslim faiths and two non-governmental organizations were present during this evaluative forum.
The December 2024 conclave sat for over six (6) hours, analysing the present context of the socio-political crisis in Cameroon, brainstorming on new strategies and different ways of making their work more impactful, and charting the way forward for a more vibrant ecumenical forum in Cameroon.
The meeting came to a close with the partners promising their unwavering support towards the goals of the forum. The Rt. Rev. Dr. Fonki Samuel extended his gratitude towards this gesture.
