PCC Academic Accreditation Committee (AAC-PCC) Holds Working Session at the Synod Office, 27th January 2026.
The Academic Accreditation Committee of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon (AAC-PCC) held its working session on Tuesday, 27th January 2026, at the Synod Office Prayer Room. The meeting was chaired by the Moderator of the PCC, the Rt. Rev. Miki Hans Abia, and brought together key stakeholders committed to strengthening quality assurance, credibility, and relevance of academic qualifications within the life and ministry of the Church.
The meeting opened with a time of meditation led by the Synod Office Chaplain, Rev. Eric Fosimundi, who reflected from Habakkuk 3:3–4, 10–11, and 18–19 on the theme: “Awakening to His Glory, the God Who Comes.” He called members to spiritual alertness, integrity, and faithfulness in discharging their mandate, reminding them that the God who comes in glory also empowers His servants to act with courage and wisdom. This meditation set a prayerful tone for the deliberations, after which members shared breakfast in fellowship.
Inputs from the PCC Hierarchy
In his words of welcome, the Chairman of the AAC-PCC reminded members of the sacred responsibility entrusted to the Committee: to safeguard the integrity of the PCC by ensuring that academic certificates presented by her workers are authentic, credible, relevant, and aligned with the mission of the Church.
Following self-introductions and roll call, the Moderator, speaking under “Expectations from the Moderator of the PCC,” highlighted the increasing global challenge of fake, doubtful, and irrelevant academic certificates, exacerbated by modern technologies. He reiterated the PCC’s commitment to excellence, accountability, and justice, stressing that academic advancement must translate into productivity and effective service.
The Synod Clerk, the Financial Secretary, and the Secretary Committee of the Ministry, each made valuable contributions. They underscored the need for clear, transparent, and coordinated procedures linking approval for further studies, accreditation of certificates, and remuneration, while also drawing attention to the administrative and financial implications of unchecked accreditation.
Review of the AAC-PCC Concept Paper
A key highlight of the meeting was the review of the Concept Paper on the Creation and Functioning of the Academic Accreditation Committee of the PCC, presented by the Secretary of the AAC-PCC. The paper outlines the rationale for the Committee, its theoretical foundations, accreditation models, procedures, and proposed job description. It addresses the PCC’s concern over the growing number of certificates that do not necessarily add value to ministry or productivity, while placing financial strain on the Church.
Members engaged in constructive discussions on:
The meaning and scope of accreditation within the PCC context.
Collaboration between the AAC-PCC, the Committee of the Ministry, and the Scholarship Board, Human Resources and the Treasury.
Procedures for approving further studies and accrediting certificates after completion.
The need to balance academic qualifications with relevance, competence, and productivity.
Way Forward
The Committee reviewed previous resolutions and their level of implementation, followed by in-depth discussions that led to clear resolutions and a defined way forward. Emphasis was placed on establishing a functional, impartial, and transparent accreditation system that promotes fairness, rewards excellence, and strengthens confidence in the PCC’s human resource development processes.
The meeting concluded with closing remarks and a benediction, committing the work of the Academic Accreditation Committee to God, the One who comes in glory and strengthens His Church.
As the PCC continues to grow and respond to emerging challenges, the AAC-PCC remains a vital instrument in protecting the dignity of the Church, promoting excellence, and ensuring that academic advancement truly serves the mission of the church.
