Synod Office, Buea, June 4, 2026 – The Presbyterian Church in Cameroon (PCC) had the honour of receiving Her Excellency Madam Natalie Kohli, Ambassador of Switzerland to Cameroon, at the Synod Office in Buea on Thursday, June 4, 2026.

The Ambassador and her entourage were warmly welcomed by the Moderator of the PCC, Rt. Rev. Miki Hans Abia, accompanied by the Synod Clerk, the Development Secretary, and the secretary to the Moderator. The visit provided an opportunity for fruitful discussions on the longstanding relationship between Switzerland and the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon, a relationship deeply rooted in the missionary heritage of the Basel Mission.

In his welcome address, the Moderator expressed profound gratitude to the Swiss Government and people for their unwavering support to Cameroon and particularly to the PCC through various development and humanitarian initiatives over the years. He highlighted the historic role played by the Basel Mission in laying the foundations of Christian witness, education, healthcare, and social transformation in Cameroon.

The Moderator noted that the visit of the Swiss Ambassador was both significant and symbolic, as it reaffirmed the enduring bonds between Switzerland and the PCC, which trace their origins to the arrival of Basel missionaries who contributed immensely to the growth of the Church and the development of communities across the country.

During the discussions, the PCC leadership presented the Church’s multifaceted ministries and development interventions in areas such as education, healthcare, peacebuilding, agriculture, environmental stewardship, women’s empowerment, youth development, and humanitarian response. Particular emphasis was placed on the Church’s ongoing efforts to promote peace and social cohesion in communities affected by conflict and socio-economic challenges.

Her Excellency Madam Natalie Kohli expressed appreciation for the warm reception accorded her and commended the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon for its remarkable contributions to nation-building and community development. She acknowledged the Church’s important role in promoting education, health services, social justice, and peace, especially among vulnerable populations.

The Ambassador also reaffirmed Switzerland’s commitment to fostering partnerships that contribute to sustainable development, peace, and human dignity. She noted the importance of faith-based organizations such as the PCC in addressing societal challenges and creating opportunities for inclusive growth and community resilience.

The visit concluded with an exchange of gifts, prayers for continued cooperation between Switzerland and the PCC. Both parties expressed optimism for strengthened collaboration in areas of mutual interest and shared commitment to the well-being of the people of Cameroon, and the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon.

The visit stands as a testament to the enduring friendship between Switzerland, the Basel Mission (Mission 21) and the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon, a relationship built on a rich history of faith, partnership, and service to humanity.
